Box is a small, secluded village set in one of the
lovely Cotswold valleys near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Midway between two delightful and interesting small
towns, Nailsworth and Minchinhampton, Box lies on the south side of
Minchinhampton Common - 600 acres of ancient common land, with Roman
earthworks, an 18-hole golf course and free-range cows.
Our cottage was right in the heart of Box village,
and close to the village green. The common and Gatcombe woods are
a minute's walk away.
It was originally one of a pair of semi-detached
weaver's cottages, built around 1840. It was extended and
modernised in the 1990s, and features three comfortable bedrooms, a
light and sunny kitchen/diner/conservatory, living room with
wood-burning stove, a lovely garden and private parking for 2 cars.
The garden was landscaped and re-planted in 2007,
and has a large, secluded and stone-paved area with a pergola for
eating out or enjoying a quiet drink in the evening.
Box is a quiet village with no through traffic -
very safe for children - and the perfect place to escape the rat race
and unwind. The village is a very open and friendly community,
and the residents are relaxed and welcoming. There are no shops
in Box itself, but the pub is within walking distance and the nearest
town, Nailsworth, has a range of very interesting shops, pubs and
restaurants and provides every need.
The cottage is the perfect retreat for a relaxing
break, and is well-located as a centre for exploring the Cotswolds,
Bath, Cheltenham, Cirencester and the wider west-country.
Please see contact page for more details of the
